Neck lanyards as the name would imply is a lanyard that goes around your neck. Normally used in corporate settings to hold a name badge to let everyone know that you belong in the building. Other typical uses are to hold a set of keys to make unlocking doors easy and quick for those people who in higher security buildings where doors are kept locked all the time. The other place you see them quite often is at conferences where they are part of the registration process and everyone wears one to provide access to the conference and also to let other attendees know who they are.
And now there is another way a neck lanyard is used. Well it's not around a neck. Maybe you've noticed but a large majority of young men have them hanging from their front pockets. Yeah, they're still holding keys, but it's no longer about quick access to the keys, or keeping them secure and not losing them. It's now about the cool factor and who has the coolest looking lanyard and whose is the longest. The coolest lanyard is one that means something personally, like an illest lanyard. Sports teams and bands and other favorites all seem to have their own imprinted or embroided custom lanyard and hanging them from your front pocket is the new way to drive your parents or teachers nuts.
